November was a blur and December is racing by as we prepare for final exams. Here is an update of our progress here at West High School.
Coaches:
Assistant Coach interviews have been going for the last few weeks and the staff is starting to come together. We will have a meet-the-coaches meeting at lunch in January and we will be holding our first camp as well.Camps:
In order to begin building our program we will be holding an open-to-the-community football camp. The camp will take place some time in January as we are waiting for gym space to open up. The camp will be open to all positions and grade levels 8-11. The camp will be operated by the coaching staff of the West Anchorage Football Eagles.Weight Room:
In a few weeks we will be assembling the Eagle Football/Wrestling weight room. It will be the room where Eagle success is built. I encourage you check out http://www.speedstrengthtraining.com/ for information on the program that we will be installing here at West High School. The program was designed by nationally recognized strength and conditioning coach Steve Kenyon and former 49ers Linebacker Dan Bunz. It was initially designed with football in mind, but has since become an intense, effective, and efficient way to prepare for any sport. Football skills will be stressed as every lift and exercise has a DIRECT football application. After school weight lifting sessions will begin in January. As we get closer to second semester check back to the blog for more information.
CHOOSE Victory!
